Experts say that it can live for up to 3 hours in the air and it can also come in contact with materials and live long on smooth surfaces. In fact, it can live for 4 hours on copper, 24 hours on cardboard, and 72 hours on steel or plastic. However, it doesn't live long on porous surfaces, such as leather, wood, money, cardboard, and fabric. 

How to disinfect leather surfaces  

Given that coronavirus can come in contact with leather surfaces––though it doesn’t live long–– it's best to know how to clean them. Here's how to disinfect your leather surfaces by shortening the lifespan or killing the coronavirus: 

Step 1: Expose your leather goods to the sun and fresh air 

Step 2: Wipe down the leather with a cloth lightly dampened with hot water and a dab of dish soap. 

Step 3: Blow-dry the leather surface. 

Step 4: Get Hepa-filters for your heating and cooling system to suck virus particles out of the air. 

Step 5: Wipe down the leather surface with a soft cloth dampened with sunflower or rapeseed oil to hydrate the surface and keep it in good condition.
